To use color management in PDF files, you must know how to generate or convert PDF files. There are many ways to generate PDF, including 1. Use the tool of PDF Writer, 2. Directly generate from different application software such as PhotoShop, PagerMaker, FreeHand, etc. 3. Generate the original file during printing, 4. Convert the file Output into PostScript, and then use Acrobat Distiller to generate. 5. Use some special software such as PDF Creator to generate. 6. Use advanced output RIP to generate. The first method above does not support color management, the second and third methods are limited to support color management, and the fourth to sixth methods are more complete to support color management.
The color management of PDF first needs to be set in Acrobat Distiller.
From the [Settings] menu of Acrobat Distiller, select [Job Options] to bring up the job options panel.

In the [General] selection panel, select Acrobat 4.0 for the compatibility in the panel. You do not need to select a version lower than 4.0 because Acrobat supports ICC color management from 4.0 (PDF1.3) onwards.

In the [Compression] panel, select the image resolution you want, the computer display can be selected above 72dpi, and the printing needs must be guaranteed above 300dpi.

In the [Color] panel, there are some preset settings files to choose from. You can also define the settings yourself. Select the setting file to "None" to customize the settings file.

There are four choices in the options of the color management scheme. "Keep unchanged colors" is to keep all the values ​​unchanged when converting the PDF file. If you know that the color management mode is set in the next process, you can choose this option; "All for color management label" is to keep all the values ​​unchanged, but embed the selected ICC Profile in the work space into the PDF file as needed, so that the staff of the next process can know the ICC Profile of the file source; "for color management only "Label image" has the same function as the previous option, but only affects the bitmap part, and the text and frame graphics have no effect. For example, the image on the page is in RGB mode, and the text and frame graphics are CMYK, or you want text. If you don't want to convert colors, you can use this option; "Convert all colors to sRGB" is a DF file that can be used for web pages or general computer display purposes. This option can be used because the PDF file converted by this option is small and easy to transfer .
The mapping method is the compression conversion intent of color management in Photoshop software. The mapping method and working space settings refer to Photoshop's color management settings.
Then set the color management of the Acrobat software itself, find the [Color Management] in the [Edit] / [Preferences] / [General] of the Acrobat software, and set it according to the color management of Photoshop.
