Ultrasonic monitoring method for outer PE film of infant diapers

Abstract: The moisture permeability of the outer PE film of infant diapers is an important indicator that directly affects the wearing comfort and practical performance of infants. In this paper, the W3/031 water vapor transmission rate tester independently developed by Jinan Languang Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd. is used as an example to test the moisture permeability test of the outer layer PE film of a brand of diapers, and the test principle and equipment parameters of the test process and equipment. Analyze to provide a means of detecting water vapor transmission rate for companies.

1, meaning

Diapers are commonly used daily necessities for babies. Dry diapers can keep babies asleep all night. Because of their high water absorption, they are commonly known as "diapers." Diapers are generally divided into three main components, a surface covering layer, an absorbent core layer and a base fabric. According to the different effects of the three components, the materials used are different: the surface coating acts to promote rapid penetration of urine and effectively prevent back osmosis, mostly made of non-woven fabric; the absorbent core layer is a key component of diapers. It is mainly composed of pure wood pulp and super absorbent resin. Its function is to absorb urine quickly, disperse urine or diffuse urine into the whole core layer by capillary action, and finally absorb and store urine. The base fabric is the most diaper. The outer layer, the main function is to breathe and prevent leakage, the domestic polyethylene-based PE film, and foreign countries have used non-woven fabrics.

This paper introduces the moisture permeability test of diapers to illustrate the importance of moisture permeability to diapers. If the outer membrane PE membrane of the diaper is poor in moisture permeability, it will easily cause the diaper to leak liquid, and the baby's buttocks will not be dry, which will cause the baby to appear red. Ass, eczema and other issues. Therefore, diaper manufacturers should strengthen the regular monitoring of the moisture permeability of the outer PE film of diapers.

2, testing standards

At present, the domestic test methods for the water vapor transmission rate of soft plastic packaging include weighing method (cup method), electrolysis method, humidity method and infrared method sensor. The reference method standards are GB 1037-1988 "plastic film and Sheet-type water vapor permeability test method cup method, GB/T 21529-2008 "Determination of water vapor transmission rate of plastic film and sheet - Electrolytic sensor method", GB/T 30412-2013 "plastic film and flake water vapor Measurement of Transmittance Humidity Sensor Method, GB/T 26253-2010 "Infrared Detector Method for Determination of Water Vapor Transmission Rate of Plastic Films and Sheets". The standard referred to in this paper is GB 1037-1988 "Powder Method for Water Vapor Transmission Test Method for Plastic Films and Sheets".

4.1 Principle of the test

This equipment is developed using the weighing method test principle. During the test, the sample is clamped in the moisture permeable cup, and a certain humidity difference is formed on both sides of the sample. The water vapor will penetrate from the high wet side through the sample to the low wet side under the action of the humidity difference. The wet cup weight is measured as a function of time, and the parameters such as the water vapor transmission rate of the sample can be determined.

4.2 Scope of application

(1) This equipment is suitable for testing the water vapor transmission rate of films, sheets, paper, cardboard, textiles, non-woven fabrics and other materials.

Film type: various plastic film, paper-plastic composite film, geomembrane, co-extruded film, aluminized film, aluminum foil, aluminum-plastic composite film, waterproof and breathable film and other film-like materials.

Sheets: sheet materials such as PP, PVC sheet, PVDC sheet, nylon sheet, etc.

(2) This equipment can also be extended to the test of the cupping method of the sample and the water vapor transmission rate test of the liquid crystal display film, the solar backing plate, the sterile protective film, the cosmetic mask and the like.

(3) This equipment meets a number of national and international standards, such as GB 1037, GB/T 16928, ISO 2528, ASTM E96, ASTM D1653, TAPPI T464, DIN 53122-1, JIS Z0208, YBB00092003, etc.

4.3 Equipment parameters

The test range of the device is 0.1 ~ 10000 g / m2 · 24h, and the resolution is 0.01 g / m2 · 24h.

The temperature control range of the device is 15 °C ~ 55 °C, and the temperature control accuracy is ±0.1 °C.

The humidity control range is 10% RH ~ 98% RH, and the humidity control accuracy is ±1% RH.

The device is equipped with three moisture permeable cups, and the three moisture permeable cups can be tested independently.

The system adopts an intermittent weighing method that meets the standard requirements, and ensures a constant humidity difference inside and outside the moisture permeable cup through the standard purge wind speed.

The device provides two quick calibration methods for standard film and standard weight to ensure the accuracy and versatility of the test data.

The equipment supports the test results comparison. The user sets the standard value and error range before the test starts. After the test is completed, the system automatically judges whether the test results are within the standard error range and intuitively informs the user.

Support LystemTM laboratory data sharing system, test data and device information can be reported simply by setting and operation, and easy to realize centralized and systematic management of laboratory test data.

5, the test process

(1) Cut 3 pieces of sample with a diameter of 74 mm from the surface of the sample.

(2) The specimens are respectively clamped in three moisture permeable cups, and then placed on the moisture permeable cup holder inside the device to close the test chamber door.

(3) Set the parameters such as test temperature, humidity, and sample thickness in the dedicated software system of the equipment configuration. Click the test option and the test starts.

(4) The equipment automatically calculates the water vapor transmission rate of the sample based on the monitored results.

6, test results

The water vapor transmission rates of the three samples of the outer PE film sample of the diaper detected in this paper were: 1218.26 g/m2·24h, 1320.11 g/m2·24h, and 1286.73 g/m2·24h, respectively.

7. Conclusion

W3/031 Water Vapor Transmission Rate Test System is a professional instrument for testing the water vapor transmission rate of membranes. It has simple operation, high test accuracy and good repeatability. It can accurately reflect the resistance of diaper outer PE film. Wet.
