According to Dr Paul Nielson, a speaker at the Exeter Construction and Timber Conference in the UK, wood is the solution to today's housing problems.
Dr. Nielsen, an ordinary practitioner from Devon, England, has built a timber house to solve the housing problem. His first timber house was built near his existing home.
The final selection of this year's Telegraph small house builder's house cost only $32,000 for construction, which is only a little over half of the government's budget of $60,000.
He is interested in the relationship between housing and health, and feels that wood plays a very important role in this.
“Our first project was an oak-tree house built within 5 miles of timber resources, using the richest timber resources in the southwest of England,†he said.
“It will take five weeks to build a two-story building, but now we can build a wooden house in five days! It is quite energy efficient.â€
