Additives for improving the compatibility of elastomer composites

Struktol of the United States has recently developed two compatibilizers, 40MS and 60NS, for thermoplastic elastomer composites. These two products are used for elastomer composites of different polarities and different tackiness and are easily absorbed during mixing. This product is used in black aromatic hydrocarbon resin composites and colored aliphatic hydrocarbon composite resin materials and other components easily. This type of product is particularly suitable for elastomer composites to be comminuted prior to blending, and they readily interact with the elastomeric debris surface to produce a compact bulk material. This type of compatibilizer does not harden during the vulcanization process, and the hardness of the vulcanized product does not decrease compared to the use of a mineral oil type plasticizer. Doping organic modified layered silicates to an organic/ Hybrid clay nanocomposites were successfully prepared in inorganic hybrid materials. The layered silicate is dispersed into the hybrid material containing amino acid oligomer alkoxysilane and tetraethoxysilane at the end. Using TEM and WXRD, it was confirmed that the dispersibility of the composite was very uniform, and the clay was mainly present in the composite in a layered form. It was found that the storage modulus of a composite film containing 5% mass fraction of clay was 300% higher than the corresponding blank material above the glass transition temperature and 30% higher at room temperature. The study also found that at room temperature, the tensile strength and elongation of the composite decreased slightly with increasing clay loading. This reaction between the hydroxyl groups of the inorganic and organic moieties and the hydroxyl groups at the edge of the clay layer provides a very good method for effective dispersion of the layered clay.
